Looking for the unexpected

My friend saw an elephant...
in Albuquerque...
in some one's back yard!
I know! How cool is that??
So I started my day with a touch of adventure and an intention to look for the unexpected today and to enjoy the journey. Whatever ever you are doing today to celebrate Valentine's Day, look for the unexpected and celebrate whatever you find. Tell me what surprised you today! You don't really have to do anything I say to do and really, I'll never know but what could it hurt? SMOOCHES

Grace in small things:
1. Beautiful sunshiney morning
2. News from a friend
3. Only 2 more weeks, 14 days, 112 hours, 6720 minutes,403,200 left of the crazy lady, but who's counting...oh wait, I forgot to deduct for breaks and lunch hours!!! WooHoo, less time than I thought working for someone who would like for me to use the "correct" hand when cutting open envelopes that will then be thrown away. I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried...
4. Not having to blow my nose the very minute that I woke up
5. My crappy, noisy neighbors are finally gone, no more late night calls to the police!

And the bestest, goodest, most wonderfulest news is that I will have a new job in 2 weeks in a place where they think I'm brilliant and want me to be creative and talk to people and use what I know. And, they ASKED me to take lots of pictures for them. yippee skippee dancing is on going in this glorious sunshiney morning

Boys are off at Angel Fire, so I'm solo for the weekend!
Yes, there was something unexpected today, but it is too long a story to tell here!
Hugs!

Of course you're brilliant! It's about time someone gave you a job that uses your skills.

Thank you for the link. I'm glad you liked my post.

OMG, Congrats on the new job!! I LOVE it that you're being rocognized for your brilliant self!

What surprised me most this Valentine's Day weekend was getting roses. I didn't expect them because I don't like the idea of buying flowers on this expensive holiday--but they were beautifully reasonable and a complete surprise!

I look forward to hearing about your new professional adventures.
(smooches back)

Hooray, hooray, HOORAY! Such fantastic news, Leau! I'm thrilled for you. The new place is lucky to have you and your creative eye! xoxox

P.S. As for that crazy woman - "the correct hand?" Really? We all have our quirks, but that seems beyond the pale. Lucky you to be closer to escape!

This new job sounds wonderful! There is nothing worse...just about...than working for someone you do not like and that does not value you. Have been there...

It's great that you have what could end up being The Best Job Ever.

The elephant, though ... that almost makes me cry. Elephants are so much like people, living long lives in tight-knit groups with knowledge passed from generation to generation. They are very emotional and do not handle stress well - much like human beings. So much, in fact, that in the more ravaged parts of Africa some have become psychotic, going on destructive rampages and even raping rhinos ... the latter phenomenon having never been observed until now. Apparently, they act a lot like many adolescent human males do after their villages have been destroyed, their parents killed, their extended families decimated, and their croplands and their whole way of life wiped out. I know this is a real down, but it's important to know just what the price Africa (and indirectly, the whole planet) pays for the resources required for us to have cheap tech gadgets (since that's where a lot of the precious metals etc used in making computer chips come from). A few years ago The New York Times magazine had a cover story about this. Anyway, it makes me sad, thinking of a lonely elephant far from home in someone's back yard.

Besides, don't want to get addicted to optimism, now, do we?
